Two Nursing Deans Win Book Award

Dorrie K. Fontaine, the Sadie Heath Cabaniss Professor of Nursing and dean of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, and Patricia Gonce Morton, the dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Utah, have been chosen to receive the 2013 Capstone International Nursing Book Award from Sigma Theta Tau International, the world’s oldest nursing honorary society. The two scholars will be honored at the Sigma Theta Tau International convention in Indianapolis this November for their textbook, Essentials of Critical Care Nursing: A Holistic Approach (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2012).
Dr. Fontaine, who is a past president of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, is a graduate of Villanova University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. from the Catholic University of America.
Dr. Morton holds bachelor’s degrees from Loyola University and Johns Hopkins University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland.
