The Next President of Connecticut College

Connecticut College in New London has selected Katherine Bergeron as its 11th president. The college enrolls about 1,900 undergraduate students and women make up 60 percent of the student body.
Dr. Bergeron is currently dean of the college at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She will take office as president of Connecticut College at the beginning of 2014.
Dr. Bergeron joined the Brown faculty in 2004 as a professor of music. Previously, she served on the music faculty for 11 years at the University of California at Berkeley. At Berkeley she was chair of the music department and dean of the college. She also has taught at Tufts University in Massachusetts and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Professor Bergeron is a native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, and is a graduate of Wesleyan University. She earned master’s and doctoral degrees in musicology at Cornell University.
