Sandra Carlson Is the New President of the Paleontological Society

Sandra J. Carlson, professor of geology at the University of California at Davis, has been elected president of the Paleontological Society. The society is an international organization that was founded in Baltimore in 1908. It is now headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. The society has members from 40 countries.
Dr. Carlson’s research focuses on the biology and paleontology of brachiopods. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in geological sciences from the University of Michigan.
