Penn State Scholar Wins International Poetry Prize

ErinMurphyErin Murphy, an associate professor of English on the Altoona campus of Pennsylvania State University, has been selected as the winner of the 2013 Fermoy International Poetry Competition. She will travel to Ireland in August and read her poetry at the Fermoy International Poetry Festival. The winning poem was “Mother of Invention,” which will be published in the literary journal The Blue Max Review.

Professor Murphy is the author of five collections of poetry including Word Problems (Word Poetry, 2011), which won the Paterson Prize for Literary Excellence, and her latest work Distant Glitter (Word Poetry, 2013).
