Barbara Bichelmeyer to Lead Indiana University Southeast

BichelmeyerBarbara A. Bichelmeyer was named interim chancellor for Indiana University Southeast in New Albany. The university enrolls about 6,400 undergraduate students and women make up 58 percent of the student body. Dr. Bichelmeyer will take office on July 1 and serve for one year while the university conducts a search for a permanent president.

Dr. Bichelmeyer is a professor of education and associate vice president for university academic policy and planning at the flagship campus of Indiana University in Bloomington. She is also director of the university’s Office of Online Education.

Dr. Bichelmeyer joined the Indiana University faculty in 1996 as an assistant professor of education. She was promoted to associate professor in 2002 and full professor in 2009.

Professor Bichelmeyer holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English, a master’s degree in educational policy and administration, and a doctorate in educational communications and technology, all from the University of Kansas.
