Long-Time Faculty Member at the University of Maine Wins Award Named in Her Honor

The University of Maine is renaming an award to honor Judith A. Hakola, an instructor who has served on the faculty of the English department at the university for nearly a half century. The first recipient of the Judith A. Hakola Award in Professional and Technical Communication will be Judith A. Hakola.
Hakola came to the university in 1963 as a teaching assistant and was appointed an instructor in 1965. She has also taught civil engineering classes at the university for 30 years.
Hakola is a graduate of Colby College and holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Maine.
