Michigan State University in East Lansing has a new campaign to raise awareness of the problem of sexual assault on campus. The initiative called “There’s No Excuse for Sexual Assault,” includes a new website which has information for the campus community and links to resources that can help victims of sexual assault.
To increase awareness of the campaign, the university has produced posters, T-shirt, buttons, and social media sites.
Paulette Granberry Russell, director of the university’s Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, states, “While MSU has policies and educational programs currently in place, this is one more step in heightening the awareness of MSU’s commitment to student safety and understanding the impact of sexual assault. MSU takes very seriously its obligation to provide all students with an educational environment free from gender discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence.”
Russell is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Tomas W. Cooley Law School.
