Two Women Appointed to Endowed Chairs

Andrea Bertozzi is the inaugural holder of the Betsy Wood Knapp Chair for Innovation and Creativity at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Bertozzi joined the faculty at UCLA in 2003 and has been serving as professor of mathematics and director of the applied mathematics program at the university. She has worked with the Los Angeles Police Department to analyze crime patterns and statistics. Betsy Wood Knapp, founder and CEO of BigPicture Investors, an investment capital and consulting firm, is a longtime financial supporter of the university.
Dr. Bertozzi holds bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics, all from Princeton University.
Ellen Kossek was named the Basil Sidney Turner Professor of Management in the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. She also serves as research director of the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence at Purdue. She is the former University Distinguished Professor in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University.
Professor Kossek is the author of CEO of Me: Creating a Life That Works in the Flexible Job Age (Pearson Prentice Hall, 2007). She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Yale University.
