Anny Morrobel-Sosa Is a Finalist for Provost at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas

The University of Nevada at Las Vegas has announced three finalists for the position of executive vice president and provost. The candidates will all soon visit campus for a series of meetings with administrators, faculty, and students. One of the three candidates is a woman.
Anny Morrobel-Sosa is dean of the College of Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso. She has held that post since October 2007.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, where she majored in physics and chemistry. She earned a master’s degree from Stony Brook University in New York and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After conducting postdoctoral study at San Jose State University, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa joined the faculty at the University of Alabama. She later taught at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and Georgia Southern University.
