In Memoriam: Karin Woodruff Jackson, 1940-2023
In 1974, Jackson began teaching courses in women’s studies at the University of Southern Maine. She went on to teach for 10 years at Westbrook College in Portland, Maine, and later for 20 years at the University of Maine at Augusta.

Samara L. Firebaugh has been selected to serve as academic dean and provost at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Georita M. Frierson was selected to be the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Southern Maine and Vini Nathan has been named as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Auburn University in Alabama.
The University of Southern Maine in Portland Names Its Next President
Since 2017, Dr. Edmondson has been the chancellor and chief academic officer of Penn State Greater Allegheny. Earlier, she was a tenured professor and associate dean in the College of Education and later associate vice president and associate dean for undergraduate education.
University of Southern Maine President to Take On a New Assignment
Theodora Kalikow will step down on July 18 as president of the University of Southern Maine in Portland to become acting vice chancellor for community engagement for the University of Maine system. She will also hold the title of president emerita.
University of Southern Maine Extends the Contract of Its President
Theodora Kalikow has agreed to a one-year extension of her two-year appointment as president of the University of Southern Maine. She will now serve until June 30, 2015. She was named president in July 2012 after serving for 18 years as president of the University of Maine at Farmington.
