Although it was initially founded as school for women, the University of Montevallo has never had a woman president. Now the university has reached a historic milestone and selected selected Michelle R. Johnston to serve as its next president.
When she takes office on September 29, Dr. Johnston will be the 22nd president and the second woman president of the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College in south-central Ohio. She has been serving as a senior vice president at the University of Montevallo in Alabama.
