Kristi Mindrup to Lead Western Illinois University
Dr. Mindrup has been serving at the university’s Quad Cities campus as vice president of operations. She has been with the university for 27 years.
In Memoriam: Edra Charlotte Bogle, 1934-2021
Dr. Bogle began her career in the academic world as a librarian at what is now Western Oregon University. Dr. Bogle joined the English department faculty at the University of North Texas in 1968 and continued to teach there until 2004.

Dr. Alta Lane joined the Baylor University faculty in 1981 when she became the coordinator for the interior design program in the department of family and consumer sciences. She retired in 1997 and was named professor emerita.
Ruth V. Watkins Selected as the Next President of the University of Utah
When she takes office this spring, Dr. Watkins will be the first woman to serve as the permanent president of the University of Utah in its 168-year history. Since 2013, Dr. Watkins has served as the senior vice president for academic affairs at the university after a 20-year career at the University of Illinois.
Vanderbilt University’s Kimryn Rathmell to Lead the American Society for Clinical Investigation
Professor Rathmell is the Cornelius Abernathy Craig Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University and the director of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is also the associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Virginia Arthur has served as provost at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota since 2012. From 2009 to 2012, she was associate provost for faculty affairs at the University of Northern Iowa. She is a graduate of Syracuse University and the College of Law at American University.
Sue J. Mattison Named the Next Provost at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa
Since 2011, Dr. Mattison has served as dean of the College of Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Earlier, she served in several faculty and administrative roles during a 21-year career at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
Mary Ann Johnson of the University of Georgia to Lead the American Society for Nutrition
Mary Ann Johnson is the Bill and June Flatt Professor in Foods and Nutrition in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia. She has been on the faculty at the university since 1983.
University of Central Florida’s Jill Fjelstul Named Editor of the Journal of Tourism Insights
Dr. Fjelstul, an associate professor in the College of Hospitality Management, joined the faculty at the University of Central Florida in 2005. Her research focuses on the recreational vehicle industry and golf and club management.
Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, Names Its Next President
Jann Rudd Weitzel will take office as the 12th president of Cottey College on June 15. Dr. Weitzel has been serving as provost and a professor of education at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.
The New Provost at Morgan State University in Baltimore
Dr. Gibson has been serving as a professor of communications studies at the University of Northern Iowa. She served as executive vice president and provost at the university until June of this year. She begins her new job on January 5.
In Memoriam: Norene Alys Smith, 1929-2014
In 1961, Dr. Smith was named the inaugural assistant dean of women at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Later, she was the inaugural director of the university’s Counseling and Testing Center and associate dean of students.
