Dr. Griggs spent three decades on the faculty of the University of Illinois, where she was the first African American to be promoted through the ranks to full professor and the first woman to serve as dean of a college.

The women faculty members taking on new roles are Trina Fletcher at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Patricia Poitevien at Brown University, Arzoo Osanloo at Princeton University, Kyle Frantz at Georgia State University, and Kimberly Kinzig at Purdue University.

Terese Wignot is the new provost at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania. Andrea Stewart has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Toneyce Randolph is the new provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Morris Brown College in Atlanta.
The women faculty members who are taking on new roles are Kathleen Horvath at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Patricia White at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, Brenda Jacobs at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and Bridget Hayden at the University of Southern Mississippi.
