Sweet Briar College has launched a new center of excellence to facilitate business and entrepreneurship programming for students. Lauren Townsend, who most recently served as director of engagement at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, will lead the women's college's new initiative.
The appointments are Diane Simeone at the University of California, San Diego, Mimi Davies Wroten at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, Veena Shankaran at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, Hong Wang at New York University, and Mary Beth Klinger at the College of Southern Maryland.
This summer, Yunhyae Kim and Rhea Banerjee are slated to join the faculties of Princeton University and North Carolina State University, respectively. Tycie Coppett of Yale University, Michelle Gervasio of Sweet Briar College, Sonja Pruitt-Lord of San Diego State University, and Trina Fletcher of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff are taking on leadership roles at their institutions.

The Society for the Study of Early Modern Women and Gender has recently presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Diana Maury Robin, a widely-published author and professor emerita of classics at the University of New Mexico.
The new deans are Paula Song at Ohio State University, Lisa Powell at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, and Nicola Mason at Morehead State University in Kentucky.
