The four women faculty members appointed to Distinguished Professer positions in the State University of New York System are Margaret A. Turk at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, Lisa Jean Moore at Purchase College, Nkiru Nzegwu at Binghamton University, and Tiantian Zheng at SUNY Cortland.
Danielle Laraque-Arena, the first woman president of the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, has announced she is stepping down, effective at the end of this semester. She will return to a full-time faculty position in June 2019.
Elizabeth R. McAnarney, professor and chair emerita of pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center, has been selected to receive the 2013 John Howland Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the American Pediatric Society.
