Washington at the University of California, Irvine, and Martha Kline at Ohio University-Zanesville.
The National Endowment for the Humanities has recently awarded nearly $35 million in grants to 97 humanities projects across the country. Five of these grants were awarded to higher education institutions leading projects related to prominent American women writers, poets, and activists.
