“Nancy Vacc, with her great heart and generous spirit, not only unselfishly gave the university impactful resources, but helped shape our campus, inform our values, and move us forward,” said Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr., chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The three women named to the rank of Distinguished Professor are Yuanyan Yang and Latha Chandran, both at Stony Brook University, and Laura J. Person at the State University of New York at Potsdam.
When she takes office on July 1, Dr. Kristin G. Esterberg will be the first woman president of SUNY Potsdam. Currently, she is provost and academic vice president at Salem State University in Massachusetts.
