Dr. Phillips currently serves as president of Chatham University in Pittsburgh. She is slated to assume the presidency of St. Mary's College of Maryland on July 1.
Dr. Jordan has led St. Mary's College of Maryland for the past 10 years. She has previously held faculty and leadership positions with Xavier University of Louisiana, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Lewis & Clark College.

Jennifer Cognard-Black is a professor of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Individuals nominated for the Cherry Award have proven themselves as extraordinary teachers with positive, inspiring and long-lasting effects on students.
Dr. Jordan, who holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Purdue, currently serves as professor of chemistry and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
