Study Finds Substance Use Is Higher Among Teenage Girls Than Their Male Peers

Before age 12, boys were more likely than girls to report prior substance use. However, the trend reversed around age 13, with girls reporting higher rates of prior nicotine, cannabis, and alcohol use, according to new research led by scholars at the University of California, San Diego.
