The newly established Bona Distinguished Lectureship at Stony Brook University was developed by Professor Emerita Mary Jo Bona. A faculty member since 1999, Dr. Bona was a key leader in transforming the women's studies program into a degree-granting department.

Dr. Frisch was a faculty member at the University of Chicago's department of astronomy and astrophysics for nearly 50 years. She was a leading expert on the heliosphere, the region of space influenced by the solar wind and the sun's magnetic field.

Dr. Riordan became the first woman president of Adelphi University in New York in 2015. In addition to her administrative background, she researches leadership, talent development and career success, and DEI.

The professors selected for new appointments are Padma Raghavan at Vanderbilt University, Audrey Corbett at the University of Oklahoma, Michelle Harkins at the University of New Mexico, Brittney May at the University of Nevada-Reno, Wendy Townsend at Purdue University, Farah Jasmine Griffin at Columbia University, and Karen Doherty at Syracuse University.
