Dr. Arnold is the Dick and Barbara Dickinson Professor of Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. She is the first woman to win the 1 million euros award from the Technology Academy of Finland
Of this year’s 24 MacArthur Fellows, four are women with current ties to the academic world. They are LaToya Ruby Frazier, Marina Rustow, Beth Stevens, and Heidi Williams.
Rochelle Hendricks was appointed by Governor Chris Christie to the newly created position of secretary of higher education for the state of New Jersey.
Four women were among the 15 students recently selected for fellowships by the Fannie and John Hertz Foundation of Livermore, California. The fellowships can provide up to $250,000 for five years of graduate study in the sciences.
