Nancy Albright Lowery taught nursing at the Univesity of Louisiana-Monroe for 40 years including the first class of students at what is now the Kitty DeGree School of Nursing. She was president of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing in the 1980s.
Connie Ledoux Book to Be the First Woman President of Elon University in North Carolina
Dr. Book is no stranger to Elon University. She joined the faculty in 1999 as an assistant professor of communications. Dr. Book left Elon in 2015 to become the first woman provost at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.

In Memoriam: Melba Law Steeg, 1923-2013
In honor of her fundraising efforts, Northwestern State University created the Melba L. Steeg Endowed Professorship in Primary Education. And in 2004, she was awarded an honorary degree from the university.
