Upon joining Gonzaga University in July, Dr. Passerini will become the institution's first woman president. She currently serves as provost at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

The eight women appointed to dean posts are Oya Tukel at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Lee Skinner at Tulane, Karen Richardson at Princeton, Janet Lohmann at Bowdoin College, Lisa Garcia Bedolla at the University of California, Berkeley, Leslie Grinage at Barnard College, Glenda M. Prime at Morgan State, and Debra Zeifman at Vassar College.
Katia Passerini is the new dean of the Honors College at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Shirley Lefever-Davis was named dean of the College of Education at Wichita State University and Kathryn Boor was reappointed dean of agriculture and life sciences at Cornell University.
