Dr. Mazachek is returning to Topeka after serving as president of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, since last May. Prior to her time at Midwestern State, Dr. Mazachek spent 30 years at Washburn University in various leadership roles, most recently as vice president for academic affairs, chief academic officer, and associate professor.
Randi Congleton was appointed chief diversity and inclusion officer at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Christine Julien was named director of the new Center for Equity in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and Nicole Arleane Roberson is the new chief diversity officer at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
For nearly 30 years, Dr. Alp has paired an engineering background with a passion for higher education, advancing from instructor to department head to associate dean at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before serving the past four years as dean of the College of Technology at Indiana State University.
Taking on new duties are Pearl Dowe at Emory University in Atlanta, Suzanne M. Darais at the University of Utah, Sarah Kenehan at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, Stephanie Ricker Schulte at the University of Arkansas, Chariklia Sotiriou-Leventis at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Chandice Haste-Jackson at Syracuse University in New York, and Miriam Mara at Arizona State University.
The four women appointed to named professorships are Jennifer Caplan at the University of Cincinnati, Melody Lo at Missouri University of Science and Technology, Maxine Montgomery at Florida State University, and Eve M. Brank at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Mazachek has been serving as vice president for academic affairs, chief academic officer, and associate professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She joined the faculty there in 1992. Since 2002, she has also served as president and CEO of the Washburn University Foundation.
