A study by researchers at The Miriam Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Alpert Medical School at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, has found a link between alcohol use and a lowered use of condoms by college women.
The researchers state that sexual hook-ups can have negative emotional and health outcomes such as unplanned pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and depression.
Women who were most likely to record a declining use of condoms were those from low-income families, those with lower grades in high school, and those who took part in binge drinking.
