With a notable background in higher education leadership, Dr. Townsley brings over four decades of experience to her new position. She previously served as president of both William Peace University and Nichols College, as well as interim president of Laboure College.
The women appointed to dean positions are Jenna Shim at the University of Wyoming, Pamela McCauley at Widener University, Susan Kelly-Weeder at George Washington University, Pamela Slaven-Lee at Marymount University, Cheryl Blackman at Bowie State University, Amy Shapiro at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Marie Bukowski at Wichita State University.
The nine women who have been appointed to university dean positions are Mary Koithan, Brooke Berry, Deborah Keyek-Franssen, Shanna Hagan-Burke, Rachel Dunifon, Lori Schumacher Anderson, Cassandra Hill, Natasha Vijay Munshi, and Karen Sedatole.
Irma Becerra was born in Cuba and was raised in Puerto Rico. For the past four years, she has served as provost and chief academic officer at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. Earlier she served on the faculty of Florida International University in Miami for nearly 30 years.
