Naomi Halas, a University Professor at Rice University in Houston Texas, has been awarded the 2024 Mildred Dresselhaus Prize in Nanoscience and Nanomaterials from the American Physical Society.
Professor Halas is being honored for “pioneering research at the intersection of optics and nanoscience, and groundbreaking applications of those findings in the field of plasmonics." The award comes with a $10,000 prize.
In 2003, Raisa Williams, a native of Cuba who came to the United States at the age of 14, was named the inaugural dean of first-year students at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She served in that role for a decade.
