“While efforts to advance gender equality in science have gained ground, progress remains uneven,” the authors write. “The barriers documented in this report are not limited to institutional procedures. They reflect deeper patterns: who is seen, supported and recognized, and whose contributions are valued.”

The new provosts are Fatma Mili at Montclair State University in New Jersey, Rose Marie Ward at Northwest Missouri State University, and KerryAnn O'Meara at Fordham University in New York.

“Our findings show that later-life family structures in the United States are far more unequal than traditional narratives suggest,” said Zoey Wang of the University of Michigan. “Because many social policies are built around the assumption of stable, long-term marriage, they often fail to protect older adults — especially minority women — whose life courses follow very different family trajectories.”

Dr. Blondin currently serves as vice provost for global initiatives at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she has worked for over a decade. A two-time Fulbright Specialist, she specializes in strategic budgeting and internationalization, global learning, and art history.
