Stepping down from their posts are Marlene Sprouse, president of Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, Patricia Johnson, a professor of range science at South Dakota State University, and Susan Basow, a professor of psychology at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
President Karstens came to Briar Cliff University in May 2017 as chief of staff to the university's president. When the university's president resigned two months later, Karstens was named interim president. She has now been appointed to the position on a permanent basis.
