The three retiring presidents are Ana Mari Cauce from the University of Washington, S. Georgia Nugen from Illinois Wesleyan University, and Rochelle L. Ford from Dillard University in New Orleans.
Dr. Murray was the the first woman president at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Earlier she served as provost and dean of the faculty at Macalester College in St. Paul, as provost at Birmingham-Southern College, and as a professor of piano, dean of the conservatory, and dean of the faculty at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Dyonne Bergeron has been named chief diversity officer at the University of California, Irvine. Carol A. Sumner was appointed chief diversity officer at Northern Illinois University and Dakesa Piña was named the inaugural vice president in charge of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
Charlene S. Aaron was appointed chancellor of the St. John's College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois, effective June 1. Dr. Aaron has been serving as an assistant professor in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University.
Rise Nelson Burrow was named director of the Afro-American Cultural Center. Eileen Galvez will be the new director of La Casa Cultural and Kelly Fayard was appointed director of the Native American Cultural Center.
The three women promoted and granted tenure at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington are Meghan A. Burke in anthropology/sociology, Brenda Lessen in nursing, and Adrianna Ponce in music.
The honorees are Rebecca Roesner of Illinois Wesleyan University, Karen L. Wooley of Texas A&M University, Krista Harrell of the University of South Alabama, and Beverly J. Warren who will soon become president of Kent State University in Ohio.
