The new deans are Saba Rasheed Ali at the University of Iowa, Beth Meyerand at the University of Rhode Island, Carolyn Henry at Lyon College in Arkansas, Libby Metcalf at the University of Montana, Carol Bradford at the University of Minnesota, and Stephanie Kirschmann at Huntingdon College in Alabama.
Jacqueline Allen Trimble, chair of the department of languages and literatures at Alabama State University in Montgomery, was named as the recipient of the 2017 Balcones Poetry Prize from the Balcones Center for Creative Writing at Austin Community College.
