Eve Marder, the Victor and Gwendolyn Beinfield Professor of Neuroscience at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, has been chosen to receive the $500,000 Gruber Neuroscience Prize. Her research focuses on a network of large neurons located in the guts of lobsters and crabs.
The team was honored for their work on the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), which analyzed the "echo of the Big Bang" to determine the age, content, geometry, and origin of the universe.
