Dr. Farmer, a longtime professor of business, served as acting president of Augusta College in Georgia for two years and as president of what is now Castleton University in Vermont for six years.
The women who are leaving their posts in higher education leadership are Susie Stalcup at Vanderbilt Univerity, Evelynn Ellis at Dartmouth College, Mary Kay Helling at South Dakota State University, and Karen Scolforo, president of Castleton State University in Vermont.
