The appointments are Lerna Ekmekcioglu at MIT, Daniela Arias-Rotondo at Kalamazoo College, Amanda Deliman at Utah State University, Kristen Marceau at Purdue University, Nell Gabiam at Iowa State University, Danielle Battisti at the University of Nebraska Omaha, Elizabeth J.A. Siwo-Okundi at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Taryn Okuma at the Catholic University of America, and Jennifer Ellis at Cameron University.
Askins has over four decades of experience in public service in the state of Oklahoma in legislative, executive, and judicial positions. She will assume the interim presidency of Cameron University on July 22.
The four women who were appointed to head their departments are Heidi Wengreen at Utah State University, Stephanie Boss at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, Andreea Deciu Ritivoi at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and Lisa Beckley-Roberts at Jackson State University in Mississippi.
Dr. Johnson joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 2005 and was promoted to associate professor in 2012. Before joining the University of Kansas faculty, Dr. Johnson taught in the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee-Memphis.
E. Ann Nalley, professor of chemistry at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, will receive the 2015 Award for Encouraging Women Into Careers in the Chemical Sciences from the American Chemical Society.
The 11 women taking on new administrative roles in higher education are: Valandra German, Tracey Criss, Gina Eubanks, Claire Wurmfeld, J. Renee Navarro, Sarah Schroth, Gina Siesing, Erin McDermott, Ronna Vanderslice, Danielle Wood, and Nicole Norian.
