Dr. Hughes served as the first woman and first African American president of California State University, Stanislaus from 1994 to 2005, making her the university's longest-serving president. She then became the first woman president of Dillard University in Louisiana, where she oversaw major recovery efforts after the university's campus was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
Prior to her current role as provost of Oakland University, Dr. Rios-Ellis served the California State University system for over 25 years, holding faculty and leadership positions with the Long Beach and Monterey Bay campuses.
Dr. Boreggo currently is a consultant project director and special assistant to the president for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. She served as chancellor at the University of Michigan-Flint, from 2014 to 2019.
