Dr. Strange served as a professor of women's studies and religion at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, for nearly three decades. She also served as the college's inaugural director of the women's studies program.
The three women presidents who are leaving their positions are Laurie Nichols, president of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, Katherine Bergeron, president of Connecticut College, and Meghan Hughes, president of the Community College of Rhode Island.
Dr. Nichols has been serving as interim president since July. Earlier, she served for three years as the first woman president of the University of Wyoming. From 2009 to 2016 she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University.

Kay Schallenkamp, the ninth president of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, has announced that she will step down from her post at the end of the academic year. Dr. Schallenkamp has been president of the university since 2006.
The new deans are Pat Simpson at Black Hills State, Tamara Brown at Prairie View A&M, Marian Eberly at Corning Community College, and Catherine Krause at the University of New Mexico.
