In Memoriam: Judith S. Young, 1952-2014
Judith S. Young was a professor of astronomy at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Young was a native of Washington, D.C. Both of her parents were scientists and her mother was an astronomer. In 1986, she was named the best young physicist in the world by the American Physical Society.
Rice University’s Naomi Halas to Share the Isakson Prize
Naomi Halas, the Stanley C. Moore Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, has been chosen to share the 2014 Frank Isakson Prize for Optical Effects in Solids from the American Physical Society.
