Pamela B. Davis, whose research focuses on cystic fibrosis, was chosen as chair-elect of the medical sciences section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest general scientific society.
Last fall, Dr. Richmond was only the second scholar to be named to a Presidential Chair at the University of Oregon. She was serving as the Richard M. and Patricia H. Noyes Professor of chemistry at the university, where she has taught since 1985.
The professor emerita at the University of Virginia is being honored not only for her contributions to the field of computer science but also for acting as a mentor and role model for others in the field and for her many contributions to public service.
