Mary Beth Walker Named Provost at California State University, Northridge
Dr. Walker currently serves as interim president of Georgia Gwinnett College and as associate provost for strategic initiatives and innovation at Georgia State University. She will begin her new duties at California State University, Northridge in July.
Patricia Rogers Named President of Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minnesota
Dr. Rogers has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Winona State University in Minnesota since 2013. From 2007 to 2013, Dr. Rogers served as the founding dean of the Health Sciences and Human Ecology and the School of Graduate Studies at Bemidji State University in Minnesota. She will become president in July.
Susan Elrod Will Be the Next Chancellor of Indiana University South Bend
Currently, Dr. Elrod serves as the provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She is the former dean of science and mathematics at Fresno State University and director of the Center for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Carmen Walters Named President of Tougaloo College in Mississippi
For the past six years, Dr. Walter has served as an administrator at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, most recently as the executive vice president of enrollment management, student success, and institutional relations. Prior to that, she served in various administrative roles at Delgado Community College in New Orleans for 18 years.
Carol Folt Will Be the Next President of the University of Southern California
Dr. Folt left the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this past January after taking the bold and controversial step of removing the pedestal for a Confederate monument from a main entrance to the campus. She became chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in July 2013.
Nancy Williams Elected President of the American Kinesiology Association
Dr. Williams currently serves as a professor and head of the department of kinesiology at Pennsylvania State University. She first joined the Penn State faculty as an assistant professor in 1997. She was promoted to associate professor in 2003, full professor in 2009, and department head in 2012.
Kimberlee Messina Will Be the Next President of Spokane Falls Community College in Washington
Currently, Dr. Messina serves as the interim vice president of instruction at Clovis Community College in California. She previously served for five years at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California, as the vice president of instruction and institutional research and as interim president.
MariaTeresa Tersigni-Tarrant to Lead the American Board of Forensic Anthropology
Dr. Tersigni-Tarrant serves as an associate professor of anatomy in the Center for Anatomical Science and Education and the department of surgery, and as an adjunct professor of pathology at Saint Louis University.

Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson Named as the Next Leader of the University of Texas at El Paso
Since May 2017, Dr. Wilson has been Secretary of the United States Air Force. Earlier in her career, she was president of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. From 1998 to 2009, Dr. Wilson served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New Mexico.
Nancy Brickhouse Selected as the Next Provost of Baylor University in Waco, Texas
Dr. Brickhouse has been serving as provost at Saint Louis University in Missouri. Earlier, she served for 27 years at the University of Delaware in several senior administrative roles including deputy provost, interim provost, deputy dean of the College of Education and Human Development, and director of the School of Education.
Deborah Fox Chosen as the Next President of Highlands Community College in Kansas
Fox currently serves as the director of business operations and management for the public school district in Independence, Kansas. Earlier in her career she was vice president for finance and operations at Highlands Community College.
Helen Benjamin Selected to Lead Santa Barbara City College in California
In 1991, Dr. Benjamin was hired by the Contra Costa Community College District, where she served in a variety of positions for the next 27 years, until her retirement in 2016. The last 11 years of her career were spent serving as chancellor of the Contra Costa Community College District.
Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak Named Provost at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania
Currently, Mermann-Jozwiak serves as professor of English and women’s and gender studies and as dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She will become provost at Bucknell University on June 1.
Javaune Adams-Gaston Elected President of Norfolk State University
Dr. Adams-Gaston has had a 30 year career in higher education. Currently, she serves as senior vice president and affiliate assistant professor at Ohio State University. Earlier, she served on the faculty at the University of Maryland, College Park and Johns Hopkins Univerity in Baltimore.
Anne Houtman Appointed President of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana
Currently, Dr. Houtman serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, Indiana. Previously, she served as dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering at California State University, Bakersfield.
The College of New Rochelle, a Former Women’s College, Announces It Will Close Later This Year
The College of New Rochelle was founded by the Ursuline Sisters in 1904 as the College of St. Angela. It was the first Catholic college for women in New York State. Men were first admitted to graduate programs in 1969. In December 2015, the College of New Rochelle announced that it would transition to full co-education.

Bennett College Loses Accreditation Appeal, But Vows to Fight On
Despite the fact that Bennett College raised $8 million in a short period, the Appeals Committee of the College Delegate Assembly of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges upheld the decision to revoke the college’s accreditation. The college is challenging that decision in court.

Martha Whitehead Appointed to Lead Harvard University’s Vast Library System
Currently, Whitehead serves as university librarian and vice provost of digital planning at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. She will serve as Harvard University librarian, vice president for the Harvard Library, and the Roy E. Larsen Librarian for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She will assume her new duties in June 2019.

Dr. Darling-Hammond is the Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education, Emerita at Stanford University. She is a former president of the American Educational Research Association and a member of the National Academy of Education.
Patti Neuhold Has Been Selected as the Next President of the University of Central Oklahoma
Dr. Neuhold currently serves as the university’s vice president for finance and chief financial officer. She has been an administrator at the the university since 2007. Before joining the University of Central Oklahoma, Dr. Nehold served as general manager of operations at Ethan Allen Retail, Inc.
Jenny S. Martinez Appointed the Next Dean of Stanford Law School
Professor Martinez joined the Stanford Law School faculty in 2003. Currently, she serves as the Warren Christopher Professor of Practice of International Law and Diplomacy and as a senior fellow of Stanford’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Professor Martinez will become dean on April 1.

Currently, Dr. Jacobsen serves as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. In addition to her administrative positions, Dr. Jacobsen serves as the Andrews Professor of Economics at Wesleyan.

There are 16 international Rhodes Scholars who are attending or have recently graduated from American colleges and universities. Out of the 16 international scholars at American educational institutions who have been awarded Rhodes Scholarships, 11 are women.
Two Women Scholars Appointed as Co-Editors of the American Journal of Political Science
Kathleen Dolan and Jennifer L. Lawless have been named co-editors of the American Journal of Political Science, the flagship journal of the Midwest Political Science Association. They will lead the editorial team, consisting of four associate editors and a 56-member editorial board, for a four-year term beginning in June 2019.
Alisa Plant Appointed Director of Louisiana State University Press
Most recently, Dr. Plant served as editor-in-chief of the University of Nebraska Press, a position she has held since 2015. Under her leadership, the press increased its annual output of titles by 35 percent.

Currently, Dr. Mantella serves as the senior vice president and chief executive officer of the Lifelong Learning Network at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been an administrator at Northeastern since 2001.
Nadine Aubry Named Provost of Tufts University in Massachusetts
Currently, Dr. Aubry serves as a University Distinguished Professor and dean of the College of Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. Prior to coming to Northeastern, she served as head of the department of mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
University of the Pacific President Pamela Eibeck Announces Plans to Retire
Dr. Eibeck was named Pacific University’s 24th president in 2009. During her tenure, she integrated the university’s three campuses to operate as one, oversaw a 63 percent growth in graduate school enrollment, and nearly tripled the endowment to over $450 million.
Hilary Link Will Be the Next President of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania
