Susan Fritz Will Be the First Woman to Lead the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Dr. Fritz began her career in higher education in 1989 as an instructor in the university’s department of agricultural leadership, education, and communications. In 2011, Dr. Fritz joined the central administration of the university as associate vice president for academic affairs. She was named interim provost in 2014 and was later promoted to the senior position on a permanent basis.
Laurie Stenberg Nichols to Lead Black Hills State University in South Dakota
Dr. Nichols has served as the first woman president of the University of Wyoming for the past three years. From 2009 to 2016 she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University. She is expected to serve as interim president of Black Hills State University for the next year.
Lynn Mahoney Will Be the First Woman President of San Francisco State University
Currently, Dr. Mahoney serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Los Angeles. Previously she served in various roles at California State University, Long Beach including associate vice president for undergraduate studies and interim vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies.
LaKeesha Walrond Will Be the First Woman President of New York Theological Seminary
Dr. Walrond has served as the executive pastor of the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, for over 10 years. When she assumes the presidency of the New York Theological Seminary on June 3, 2019, she will be the first woman to lead the educational institution.
The First Woman Master of Jesus College at the University of Cambridge in England
Sonita Alleyne was recently appointed as master of Jesus College at the University of Cambridge in England. The title of master is the equivalent of dean in the United States. Alleyne will be the first woman and the first Black person to lead the college, which was established in 1496.
Cynthia Larive Named Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Cruz
Dr. Larive currently serves as provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of California, Riverside, a position she has held since 2017. She has been a member of the UC Riverside community since 2005. Dr. Larive will begin her tenure as chancellor of the University of California, Santa Cruz on July 1.
Debra Tucci Named Director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders
Currently, Dr. Tucci is a professor of surgery and director of the cochlear implant program in the Division of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina. She has been a member of the Duke faculty since 1993, when she co-founded the Duke Hearing Center.
Amy Storey Appointed President of Keuka College in New York
Amy Storey has been serving as interim president of Keuka College since July 2018. Prior to her interim appointment, she had been serving as the college’s vice president for advancement and external affairs since 2013. Earlier, she was a development officer for the University of Rochester.

Nancee Sorenson was selected as the next chancellor of Louisiana State University-Eunice. Carlee Drummer will be the next president of Columbia-Green Community College in Hudson, New York, and Shannon L. Kennedy was appointed president of Rappahannock Community College in Glenns, Virginia.
Donde Plowman Named Chancellor of the University of Tennessee
Currently Dr. Plowman serves as executive vice chancellor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Earlier in her career, Dr. Plowman served as a professor of management at the University of Tennessee and was head of the university’s management department from 2008 to 2010.
Audrey Bilger Will Be the First Women President of Reed College in Portland, Oregon
Currently, Dr. Bilger serves as vice president for academic affairs, dean of the college, and professor of English at Pomona College in Claremont, California. Earlier in her career, she spent 22 years at Claremont McKenna College.

The three women who were appointed community college presidents are Angelica Suarez at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, Monica Torres at Dona Ana Community College at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, and Kim Hoffmans at Ventura Colllege in California.

Currently, Dr. Dale serves as executive vice president of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. Earlier in her career she served as dean of instruction at the Larimer and Westminster campuses of Front Range Community College in Colorado.
Amy Rosonet LeBert Chosen to Lead the Council of State Speech-Language-Hearing Association Presidents
Amy Rosonet LeBert will serve as president-elect for 2019 before transitioning to president in 2020. She is a clinical instructor and director of the Speech Pathology Clinic at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has taught at the School of Speech & Hearing Sciences at the university for the past 11 years.
Jacqueline Gill is the First Woman President of Danville Community College in Virginia
Currently, Dr. Gill serves as president of Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. Before that, she served as vice president of academic affairs and community and industry education at Tarrant County College in Hurst, Texas.

Marlene Tromp Will Be the First Woman to Serve as President of Boise State University in Idaho
Since 2017, Dr. Tromp has served as campus provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to that, she served as dean of Arizona State University’s New Interdisciplinary College of Arts and Sciences.

Sara Young Jackson has held numerous leadership roles at Pepperdine over the past 40 years. Most recently, Jackson has served as vice chancellor, a role she has held since 2004. In this role, she promotes and advances the progress of the university through major-gift fundraising.
A Change in Leadership at Bennington College in Vermont
Mariko Silver, president of Bennington College in Vermont, will step down from her post on July 1 to become president of the Henry Luce Foundation in New York City. The board of trustees at Bennington College has named Isabel Roche, provost and dean of the college, as interim president.

Since 2016, Dr. Littleton-Steib has served as chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College in Louisiana. Earlier in her career, she served in various roles at Delgado Community College including vice chancellor of workforce development and dean of technical education.
Jann Luciana Joseph Will Be the Next President of Georgia Gwinnett College
Currently, Dr. Joseph serves as interim chancellor of Indiana University South Bend. She was executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the South Bend campus before she was asked to step into her current role. Earlier in her career, she served as dean of the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University.
Rebecca Wyke Appointed President of the University of Maine at Augusta
Since 2017, Dr. Wyke has been serving as interim president of the Augusta campus. Earlier, she was vice chancellor for finance and administration for the University of Maine System. Prior to joining the University of Maine System, Dr. Wyke was the commissioner of the Department of Administration and Finance for the state of Maine.

Currently, Dr. Harvey-Smith serves as the executive vice chancellor at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas. Earlier in her career she served as president of River Valley Community College in Claremont, New Hampshire, and as vice president of student affairs at Baltimore City Community College.
Joyce McConnell Appointed President of Colorado State University in Fort Collins
Currently, Professor McConnell serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at West Virginia University; a role she has held since 2014. In addition to her administrative role, she serves as the Thomas R. Goodwin Professor of Law at the university. She will become president of Colorado State University on July 1.
Catherine Koverola Named President of Two University of Pittsburgh Campuses
Currently, Dr. Koverola serves as the inaugural provost and senior adviser at the African Leadership University in Mauritius, Africa. In June she will become president of both the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.
Barbara Mistick Appointed President of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities
Dr. Mistick has served as the president of Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania since 2011. During her tenure there, she transitioned the college to a full co-educational institution. Earlier in her career, Dr. Mistick served as president of the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Eight Women Elected Members of the American Academy of Arts and Letters
The American Academy of Arts and Letters recently inducted 11 individuals into the 250-member honorary society. New members are elected only upon the death of other members. Of the 11 new members, eight are women.
