Connie Walton Appointed Provost at Grambling State University in Louisiana
Dr. Walton is a professor of chemistry at the university. Her research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of molecules that exhibit liquid crystalline behavior and polymer synthesis. She holds two U.S. patents. Dr. Walton has served as interim provost since May 2019.
The Next Provost at the University of Chicago
Dr. Ka Yee C. Lee is a professor of chemistry and has been serving as vice provost for research. She joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 1998 as an assistant professor in the department of chemistry and was appointed full professor in 2008.

Dr. Kress has 30 years of community college experience. Most recently, she served as the president of Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. Earlier, she spent 20 years at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida.
Sally Pratt Is the New Chair of the Board of the Council of Graduate Schools
Sally Pratt is a professor and vice provost for graduate programs at the University of Southern California. She has served on the faculty there for 40 years. A professor of Slavic languages and literatures, she came to the university in 1980 as the Russian language program coordinator.
Elizabeth Spiller to Be the Next Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer at the University of Nebraska
Since 2017, Dr. Spiller has served as dean of the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Davis. Earlier, Professor Spiller served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. She will begin her new job at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in March.
Susan Darlington Named President of the Formerly All-Male Deep Springs College in California
The college admitted women in 2018 for the first time since its founding in 1917. The two-year college has a total of only about 30 students. This year women make up 54 percent of the student body. Dr. Darlingtonis currently a professor of anthropology and Asian studies and dean of the School of Critical Social Inquiry at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Louisiana State’s Susanne Brenner Named President of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
Susanne C. Brenner is a Boyd Professor of the Louisiana State University System. She holds a joint appointment with the department of mathematics and Center for Computation and Technology (CCT). At CCT she is also the associate director for academic affairs.
Anne Dorrance to Lead the Wooster Campus of Ohio State University
Dr. Dorrance has been a faculty member in the department of plant pathology in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and based in Wooster since fall 1997. She currently serves as a professor in the department and was the director of the college’s Center for Soybean Research.
Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Extends Tenure of Interim President Kathleen Harring
Kathleen Harring was appointed interim president of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania this past June. Now the board of trustees has extended this appointment for the next two years. Before being appointed interim president, Dr. Harring was provost at the college. She has served on the psychology department faculty since 1984.
Laurie Stenberg Nichols Named President of Black Hills State University in South Dakota
Dr. Nichols has been serving as interim president since July. Earlier, she served for three years as the first woman president of the University of Wyoming. From 2009 to 2016 she served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University.
Fontbonne University in St. Louis Appoints Nancy Blattner as Its Next President
Since 2009, Dr. Blattner has served as president of Caldwell University in New Jersey. Prior to that role, she was vice president and dean for academic affairs at Fontbonne University. Dr. Blattner will become president of Fontbonne University in July.
Nicole Stanton Will Be the Next Provost at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut
Stanton joined Wesleyan in 2007 as an associate professor of dance. She served as chair of the department for two three-year terms and is currently serving as dean of the Arts and Humanities. Earlier in her career, she taught at Ohio State University.
Suzanne Morse Moomaw to Serve as Director of the University of Virginia Press
Dr. Moomaw is an associate professor of urban and environmental planning in the university’s School of Architecture and director of the Community Design Research Center. She will begin her duties as director of the University of Virginia Press in January.
The University of Kansas Has Appointed Barbara Bichelmeyer as Its Next Provost
Dr. Bichelmeyer is currently a professor of management and the provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she also served as interim chancellor. Prior to that, she held numerous leadership roles at Indiana University-Bloomington.
Barbara Wold Named the Director of the Institute for Translational Research at the CalTech
The institute, established earlier this year, aims to help CalTech scientists and engineers transform their breakthroughs into advances in human health and enhance resources for every step in translational science, from basic discovery through clinical collaboration and the introduction of new treatments.
Leslie Ward Appointed President of the Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier
Leslie Ward has been serving as interim president of the college since July of this year. She will officially assume the duties of president on July 1, 2020. She holds a master of fine arts degree in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and an MBA from Harvard University.
Penn State Brandywine Chooses Marilyn Wells as Its Next Chancellor
Dr. Wells has been serving as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Before joining Minnesota State University, Wells served as vice provost and graduate dean of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Katherine Clay Bassard Will Be the Next Provost at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee
Dr. Bassard currently serves as a professor of English and interim senior associate dean for faculty affairs in the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. Earlier, she was senior vice provost for faculty affairs at VCU.

Dr. Frank has been serving as vice president of academic innovation and professor of English at Central Washington University in Ellensburg. From 2016 to this past summer. Dr. Frank was provost and vice president of academic and student life.
Three American Educational Institutions Name Women to Provost Positions
Lourdes María Alvarez is the new provost and vice president for academic affairs at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Mary L. Coffey was named provost and dean of faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, and Margaret Fitzgerald was named interim provost at North Dakota State University.
Rowena M. Tomaneng Will Be the Next President of San José City College in California
A first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, Dr. Tomaneng has been an educator in the California Community College system for nearly 25 years, serving most recently as president of Berkeley City College. Dr. Tomaneng will begin her presidency of San José City College on January 6.
Alison Morrison-Shetlar Chosen as the First Woman President of the University of Lynchburg in Virginia
In 2014, Dr. Morrison-Shetlar became the provost at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Earlier in her career, she served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Elon University in North Carolina, vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, and director of faculty development at Georgia Southern University.

Dr. Stacy Young currently serves as dean of the School of Business and School of Advanced Technology at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. She joined the staff at the college in 2005 and was named dean in 2013.
Adrien L. Bennings Will Be the Sixth President of Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan
Dr. Bennings has been serving as vice president for finance and administration at Clovis Community College in Clovis, New Mexico. From 2015 to 2018, she served as the director of the Small Business Development Center at Texas Tech University.

Central New Mexico Community College Appoints Tracy Hartzler as Its Next President
Hartzler is currently the college’s vice president for finance and operations. She first joined the staff at the college in 2015. Hartzler is expected to take over for Katharine Winograd, who has led the Albuquerque community college for the past 12 years sometime in early 2020.
Rachel Crosen Will Be the Next Provost at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
Since 2016, Dr. Crosen has served as dean of the College of Social Science at Michigan State University. She is also a Michigan State University Foundation Professor of economics. Earlier in her career, Professor Crosen served as dean of the School of Business at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Carmen Simone Appointed the Sixth President of Western Nebraska Community College
Dr. Simone is the current and founding vice president and dean at the University of South Dakota Community College for Sioux Falls. Earlier, Dr. Simone served as president of Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado for five years.
Leila Hamdan Chosen to Lead the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation
Dr. Hamdan is an associate professor of coastal sciences and interim associate director of the School of Ocean Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi. She will become president of the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation in 2021.
Suzanne Blum Malley Will Be the Next Provost at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina
Dr. Blum Malley currently serves as senior associate provost and a member of the English department faculty at Columbia College in Chicago. She joined the faculty at the college in 1995 as an assistant professor of English. Dr. Blum Malley will begin her new duties in January.
Boise State University Scholar Named President-Elect of Respiratory Care Society
Samantha Davis, clinical assistant professor in the department of respiratory care at Boise State University in Idaho, has been elected president-elect of the Idaho Society for Respiratory Care for the year 2020. Davis will serve one year as president-elect and then will serve the Idaho Society for Respiratory Care as president for the year 2021.
The Next President of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio
A native of Australia, Susan Edwards has served as provost at Wright State University since 2018. Prior to coming to Wright State, Dr. Edwards served as vice provost for faculty affairs and professor of biology at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
Allana Hamilton Appointed Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the Tennessee Board of Regents
Dr. Hamilton has been president of Jackson State Community College in Tennessee for nearly three years. Before becoming president of Jackson State Community College in January 2017, Dr. Hamilton was vice president for academic affairs at Northeast State Community College in Blountville, Tennessee.
Alysia Starkey Named the Leader of Kansas State University Polytechnic in Salina
Dr. Starkey joined the faculty at the Kansas State Polytechnic Campus in 2002. Before being named interim CEO and dean in 2018 she had been serving as a full professor and as associate dean for academics at the Polytechnic Campus.
Leah Barrett Appointed the First Woman President of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska
Since 2016 Dr. Barrett has been serving as vice president for student affairs for the Northern Wyoming Community College District in Sheridan. Earlier, she was associate vice president for enrollment management and student affairs for the College at Brockport of the State University of New York System.
