Dr. Stephanie Fujii has been serving as vice president of academic affairs at Scottsdale Community College within the Maricopa Community College District in Arizona, a position she has held since 2016. Dr. Fujii will begin her new job on July 12.
Texas Southern University in Houston Names Lesia L. Crumpton as Its Next President
Since 2019, Dr. Crumpton-Youung has served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She also was a tenured full professor inf the department of industrial and systems engineering in the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. School of Engineering.
Amy C. Novak Named the Fourteenth President of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa
Since 2013, Dr. Novak has been president of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. Before being appointed president, she was provost from 2007 to 2013 and vice president for enrollment management from 2004 to 2007.
Massachusetts College of Art and Design Appoints Mary F. Grant as Its Next President
Dr. Grant currently serves as Senior Administrative Fellow for Civics and Social Justice, leading the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice and serving as Co-Chair of the President’s Special Task Force on Racial Justice at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.
Christine Holt Selected to Be the Next Chancellor of the University of Arkansas, Hope-Texarkana

Lafayette College in Easton Pennsylvania Appoints Nicole Hurd as Its Eighteenth President
Dr. Hurd has been serving as chief executive officer of College Advising Corps, which she launched in 2005. CAC has helped more than 525,000 low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students enroll in higher education by placing more than 800 recent college graduates as near-peer advisers in 795 high schools across America.
Terri Goss Kinzy Named the Twentieth President of Illinois State University
Dr. Kinzy has been serving as a professor of biology and vice president for research and innovation at Western Michigan University. Earlier, she served as vice president of research and professor in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She will begin her new job on July 1.
Four Women Scholars Appointed to Provost Positions at Colleges and Universities
The four women who will become provosts this summer are Debbie Storrs at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Monica Terrell Leach at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, Laura A. McLary at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, and Lisa Anderson-Levy at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Denise Whisenhunt Appointed President of Grossmont College in California
Whisenhunt has been serving as vice president of student services at San Diego City College. She served as interim president of the college in 2016 and 2017. Whisenhunt has been on the staff at the college since 2001.
Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota Selects Alison Byerly as Its Next President
In 2013, Dr. Byerly became the first woman president of Lafayette College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Easton, Pennsylvania. Earlier, she was was provost and executive vice president at Middlebury College in Vermont. Dr. Byerly will begin her new job on August 1.
Maria Gallo Appointed Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls
Since July 2016, Dr. Gallo has been serving as president of Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Earlier, she was dean of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and chair of the department of agronomy at the University of Florida.
Minnesota State College Southeast in Winona Selects Its Next Leader
Since 2016, Dr. Marsha Daniel has served as vice president of economic development for South Central College that has campuses in Faribault and North Mankato, Minnesota. She has been on the staff at South Central College since 2007.
Jennifer Pollack Is the New Leader of the American Physiological Society
Dr. Pollack professor in the Division of Nephrology in the department of medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also serves as co-director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences Predoctoral Training Program.
Lisa Jones Appointed President of Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely
In her most recent role, Dr. Lisa Jones served as vice president of student development at the Cedar Valley campus of Dallas College, a Hispanic-serving and predominately Black institution in Lancaster, Texas. Earlier, Dr. Jones served as vice president of student affairs at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan.
Krista Newkirk Will Be the First Woman President of the University of Redlands in California
Krista Newkirk has been serving as president of Converse College, an educational institution for women in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The college is now becoming co-educational. Prior to being named the tenth president of Converse College in 2016, Newkirk spent 13 years at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

In the 1960s there were about 280 women’s colleges in the United States. Many have closed and a large number have become co-educational. Today, there are slightly more than 30 women’s colleges remaining in the United States. Judson College in Alabama is the latest to close its doors.

Since 2016, Dr. Wilson has served as executive vice president and vice president for academic affairs for the University of Illinois System. Earlier at the University of Illinois, she served as the Harry E. Preble Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and as head of the department of communication.
Two Women Who Have Been Appointed to Provost Positions in Higher Education
Rosa Rivera-Hainaj has been selected as provost at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, and Catherine Koshland was named interim executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of California, Berkeley. Both appointments are effective in July.
Kristin Clark Appointed Chancellor of the West Hills Community College District in California
Dr. Clark has served as president of West Hills College Lemoore since January 2016. Earlier, she was vice president of student services at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. She will begin her new job on July 1.

Catherine Pierce, a professor of English at Mississippi State University, was named poet laureate of the state of Mississippi and Crystal Wilkerson, a professor of English at the University of Kentucky, has been appointed poet laureate for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania Appoints Felicia Ganther as Its Next President
Since 2012, Dr. Ganther has been serving as associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Maricopa Community Colleges in Arizona. Earlier she was the executive director of the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. She will become president of Bucks County Community College on Julu 1.
New College of Florida Appoints Patricia Okker as its Next President
Dr. Okker has served as dean of the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri since 2017. She joined the University of Missouri as an assistant professor of English in 1990. From 2005 to 2011, Professor Okker chaired the English department at the university.
Erika Cameron Will Be the Next Provost at Palo Alto University in California
Dr. Cameron comes to Palo Alto University from the University of San Diego where she is an associate professor in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences. She has served in progressive administrative and leadership capacities since 2009.

Sonya Christian has been president of Bakersfield College in California since 2013. Earlier, she served in a variety of senior administrative roles at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, including executive vice president and chief academic officer and vice president for academic and student affairs.
Rebecca Johnson Is the First Woman to Lead Oregon State University
Dr. Johnson has served as vice president of OSU-Cascades since 2009 and has been on the university’s faculty since 1984. She will be the leader of the state’s largest university for approximately a year or until a permanent president is in office.
Pamela Whitten Will Be the First Woman President of Indiana University
Dr. Whitten has served as president of Kennesaw State University in Georgia since 2018. From 2014 to 2018, she was provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at the University of Georgia. Earlier in her career, Dr. Whitten was dean of the College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University.
Lorin Basden Arnold Appointed Provost at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania
Dr. Basden Arnold comes to Kutztown University from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs for the past three years. She is also a professor of communication at the university.

Lynn Priddy Is the New President of Claremont Lincoln University in California
Dr. Priddy has served on the university’s board of directors for the past two years. She was the interim vice president of academic affairs for the institution from February 2019 to December 2020. Earlier, Dr. Priddy served as provost at National American University, a private for-profit online university headquartered in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Stephanie Erdmann Selected as Leader of Great Falls College in Montana
Dr. Erdmann currently serves as the vice president of academic affairs and Rice Lake Campus administrator for Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, a position she has held since 2018. Dr. Erdmann first joined the college in 2015 as a divisional dean in the business program.
Kayse Shrum Will Be the First Woman President of Oklahoma State University
Dr. Shrum has served as president of the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa since 2013. A the time of her appointment, she was the youngest and first woman president and dean of a medical school in the state of Oklahoma.
