Diane Recinos Is Promoted to the Presidency of Berkeley College
During her 30-year career at the college, Dr. Recinos has held positions in campus operations, admissions, marketing, student development and campus life, disability services, career services, academic advisement, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs.
Three Women Who Have Been Appointed to Provost Positions
The three women who will be assuming the role of provost at their academic institutions are Abby Parill-Baker at the University of Memphis, Laurie K. McCauley at the University of Michigan, and Melanie Stein at Ithaca College in New York.
Robyn E. Hannigan Has Been Appointed President of Ursinus College in Pennsylvania
Since 2019, Dr. Hannigan has been named provost at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Earlier, she was a faculty member and the founding dean of the School for the Environment at the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
Frederick Community College in Maryland Has Chosen Annessa Cheek as Its Next President
Dr. Cheek has served as president of St. Cloud Technical and Community College in Minnesota since 2018. From 2014 to 2018, she was vice president of school and community partnerships at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. She had been on the staff at that college since 2006.
JuliAnn Mazachek Selected to Be the Next President of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas
Dr. Mazachek has been serving as vice president for academic affairs, chief academic officer, and associate professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She joined the faculty there in 1992. Since 2002, she has also served as president and CEO of the Washburn University Foundation.
Barbara Bellefeuille Has Been Named the Eighth President of Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana
Dr. Bellefeuille has served as interim president of the university since June 1, 2021. She is the first female to serve in the university’s highest leadership role. Dr. Bellefeuille has served at Bethel University since 2012, spending almost nine years as vice president for academic services.
Three Women Appointed to Provost Positions at State Universities
Marsha A. Pollard has been appointed provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dorothy Campbell was appointed interim provost and chief academic officer at New Mexico State University and Vini Nathan has been named interim provost and vice president of academic affairs at Auburn University in Alabama.
Julie H. Sullivan Will Be the First Woman President of Santa Clara University in California
For the past nine years, Julie Sullivan has been president of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. There she was the first layperson and first woman to serve as president. Prior to joining the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Sullivan was executive vice president and provost at the University of San Diego
Cathy Young Will Be the Next President of Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia
Cathy Young currently serves as executive director and senior vice president of Boston Conservatory at Berklee in Massachusetts. Earlier, she was a tenured professor of dance at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. She will begin her new job on July 1.

The latest report on the status of women and racial and ethnic minorities in leadership positions at the 130 educational institutions in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCCA has been released by The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) at the University of Central Florida. These are generally the schools with the nation’s largest athletic programs.
La Jerne Terry Cornish Appointed the Tenth President of Ithaca College in New York
Dr. Cornish has been serving as interim president since August 30, 2021. From 2018 to 2021, Dr. Cornish served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the college. Earlier, she was associate provost for undergraduate studies at Goucher College in Baltimore.
Pat Pitney Appointed President of the University of Alaska System
President Pitney has served in the role on an interim basis for the past two years. Before being named interim president, Pitney was the state’s director of the Division of Legislative Finance. She was the former vice chancellor of administration for the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Eastern Washington University Selects Shari McMahan as Its Next President
Dr. McMahan is currently the provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, San Bernardino. She is the first woman provost in that university’s history. Dr. McMahan also has an academic appointment as a full professor in the College of Natural Sciences, Department of Health Science and Human Ecology at the university.
LaTonia Collins Smith Is the New President of Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis
Dr. Colllins Smith has been serving as interim president since last summer. Before being named interim president, Dr. Collins Smith had been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the university. She has been on the staff at the uni varsity since 2010.
Lena Tran Appointed President of Columbia College in Sonora, California
Dr. Tran comes to Columbia College from San Jose City College, where she has served as vice president of strategic partnerships and workforce innovation for more than four years. Previously, at Evergreen College in San Jose, she was dean of business and workforce development.

The three women appointed to provost positions are Wendy F. Hensel at the City University of New York, Kimberly Battle-Walters Denu at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and Kirsten Fleming at the University of Northern Colorado.
University of Michigan Provost Susan Collins to Lead the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Dr. Collins currently is provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and the Edward M. Gramlich Collegiate Professor of Public Policy and professor of economics at the University of Michigan. Previously, she was a professor – and for a decade was the Joan and Sanford Weill Dean – at the university’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
Ohio Northern University in Ada Names Melissa Baumann as Its Twelfth President
Dr. Baumann has been serving as provost and chief academic officer at Xavier University in Cincinnati. Earlier, she was an assistant provost and head of the Honors College at Auburn University in Alabama, where she was a professor of mechanical engineering. When she takes office in July, she will be the first woman to lead Ohio Northern University.
Cynthia Barnhart Appointed Provost at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Dr. Barnhart, a Ford Foundation Professor of Engineering and professor of operations research at the MIT Sloan School of Management, has served MIT in a variety of roles. She has been both associate and acting dean of the School of Engineering, and co-director of the Operations Research Center and the Center for Transportation and Logistics, and chancellor.
Jill M. Baren Will Be the First Woman President of Lake Forest College in Illinois
Dr. Baren currently serves as provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Earlier, she taught at the University of California, Los Angeles, Yale University, and the University of Pennsylvania. She will become the 14th president of Lake Forest College in July.
Fordham University in New York Appoints Its First Woman President in Its 181-Year History
Tania Tetlow has served as president of Loyola New Orleans since August 2018. Prior to being named president of Loyola, she was senior vice president and chief of staff at Tulane University from 2015 to 2018. She is a former federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Stacey Robertson to Lead Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania
For the past five years, Dr. Robertson has been serving as a professor of history and provost and vice president for academic affairs at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Earlier, she served as dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.

Hyeyoung Lim, 0f the University of Alabama at Birmingham has been named president of the Korean Society of Criminology in America. Talitha Washington of Clark Atlanta University will lead the Association for Women in Mathematics and Kathy M. Sherman-Morris of Mississippi State University is the new president of the National Weather Association.
Mautra Jones Appointed the Eleventh President of Oklahoma City Community College
Dr. Jones has been serving as vice president of institutional advancement and external affairs at Langston University. She is the site administrator for the university’s Oklahoma City campus, as well as the executive director of the Langston University Foundation. She will become president of Oklahoma City Community College on March 1.
Laurie Leshin Will Be the First Women to Direct the Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Since 2014, Dr. Leshin has served as president of Worcester Poytehcnic Institute in Massachusetts. She is the only woman to lead the university in its more than 150-year history. Dr. Leshin will also serve as vice president of the California Institute of Technology, which operates the laboratory for NASA.
Robin Holmes-Sullivan Chosen to Be the 26th President of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon
Dr. Homes-Sullivan is currently the vice president for student life and dean of students at the college. She came to Lewis & Clark in 2019 from the University of California System, where she served as vice president for student affairs. Earlier, she spent 27 years at the University of Oregon rising to the position of vice president of student life.
Eiko Maruko Siniawer Appointed Provost at Williams College in Massachusetts
Dr. Siniawer is the ’97, the Class of 1955 Memorial Professor of History and chair of Asian studies at the liberal arts college. She joined the faculty at the college in 2003. A scholar of modern Japan, Professor Siniawer teaches a variety of courses on Japanese history.
Helen Faith of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Elected Chair of NASFAA
Since 2020, Faith has served as director of student financial aid at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Previously, she was associate dean of student engagement and dean of new student transitions at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.
Radenka Maric Is the New Leader of the University of Connecticut
Radenka Maric has been appointed interim president of the University of Connecticut. Dr. Maric has served as vice president for research since 2017 and oversees the university’s $375 million research enterprise. She holds faculty appointments in the department of chemical and biomolecular engineering and the department of materials science and engineering.
Andrea Burrows of the University of Wyoming Elected President of the Association for Science Teacher Education
Dr. Burrows has been associated with ASTE for 14 years including serving as the leader of the professional development committee and the conference planning committee as well as being an associate editor of the Journal of Science Teacher Education.
Jennifer Brown Will Be the Next Provost at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Dr. Brown is currently the vice provost and dean for undergraduate education at the University of California, Riverside. Prior to joining the University of California, Riverside in 2018, Dr. Brown served as vice provost and dean of the Graduate School at Oregon State University. She began her faculty career at Purdue University in 2004. She will begin her new duties on April 1.
Loretta Higgins Is the New President of Barnham Graduate School and Seminary College in Katy, Texas
Established in 2012, the mission of Barnham Graduate School and Seminary College is to provide high-quality, affordable education to those wishing to obtain an education in the areas of religious, dispute resolution, or not-for-profit management. Before being named president, Dr. Higgins was dean of specialized studies overseeing the development of continuing education programs at the educational institution.

Susan Ganter has been appointed provost and executive vice president at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa. Donna Bradley is the new provost at Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, and Kathy Littles was named provost at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
JoAnne Banducci Is the New Director of the University of Nevada Press
JoAnne Banducci joined the University of Nevada Press in 2009 as the business manager and has served as interim director of the press since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020. The press published 21 books in 2020 and 21 books in 2021.
E. Elizabeth Magill to Serve as the Ninth President of the University of Pennsylvania
Professor Magill has been serving since 2019 as executive vice president and provost at the University of Virginia. Earlier, she was the Richard E. Lang Professor of Law and dean of Stanford Law School. Previously, she spent 15 years on the faculty of the University of Virginia School of Law. She is an expert on administrative law and constitutional structure.
