Jennifer Gandhi was named the Phyllis A. Wallace Dean of Faculty Development for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Yale University. Catherine Volle is the inaugural Joanne Paulsen Buresh '51 and Wendy Buresh, MD '74 Endowed Chair in Biology at Cornell College in Iowa and Kalmia Kniel was named the Unidel S. Hallock du Pont Chair at the University of Delaware.
The Bass Society of Fellows was established at Duke University in North Carolina in 1996 through a $10 million donation from Anne T. and Robert Bass. Fellows hold a named professorship for five years and retain lifetime membership in the society.
Laurel Smith-Doerr is a Provost Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Lindsey Welch was promoted to full professor at Cedar Crest College, and Liza Stepanova joined the faculty of the University of Cincinnati. Anjali Iyer-Pascuzzi of Purdue University and Jennifer Olmsted of Wayne State University have been promoted to head of their departments.
The new deans are Veena Misra at North Carolina State University, Susan Davies at Tulane University, Angela Johnson at Dillard University, Marci Maple at Bemidji State University, Molly McGehee at Emory University, Erin White at Fayetteville State University, and Sarah Westberg at Bethel University.
The appointments are Aviva Abosch at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, a clinical partner of Florida International University, Margarita Guillory at Boston University, and Karen Thole at Pennsylvania State University.
The three women promoted to full professor at Bowdoin College are Jackie Brown in art, Crystal Hall in digital humanities, and Emily Peterman in Earth and oceanographic sciences.
UCLA's Kelly Lytle Hernández is vice president of the Society of American Historians. Nichole Price will direct a new research center at Colby College and Ivonne Miranda was awarded tenure at Cedar Crest College. Hiu Li is a Distinguished Research Professor at Florida State University and Florida A&M University and Danbi Um has joined the University of Cincinnati faculty.
The three women promoted to full professor at Valdosta State University in Georgia are Heather Kelley in human services, Jamie Workman in higher education leadership, and Catherine Bowers in reference services.
