Seven Women Scholars Selected for Endowed Faculty Appointments

Lisa Lattanza has been named the Ensign Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine. She currently serves as chair of the orthopaedics and rehabilitation department and as chief of Yale New Haven Hospital. She holds a faculty affiliation with the Yale Institute for Global Health.

Dr. Lattanza received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio.

Jennifer Talarico has been named the Marshall R. Metzgar Professor of Psychology at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. She currently serves the college as head of the psychology department. Her research focuses on memory for personally experienced events.

Dr. Talarico holds a Ph.D. from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Desiree Díaz has been appointed as the inaugural ENFERMERÍA Faculty Excellence Scholar at the University of Central Florida. She has been a member of the university’s faculty for nearly a decade, currently serving as a professor of nursing, the undergraduate simulation coordinator, and director of the Hispanic-serving healthcare professionals certificate program.

Dr. Díaz received her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Connecticut. She holds a second master’s degree in education from St. Joseph College of Maine.

Doris Wagner has been named the DiMaura Professor of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her teaching appointment, she serves as the graduate chair of biology and the inaugural director of the Penn Plant Adaptability and Resilience Center. Professor Wagner is the editor-in-chief of the journal Current Opinions in Plant Biology.

Dr. Wagner holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Emily McCobb has been appointed as the inaugural PetSmart Charities Endowed Chair in Accessible Veterinary Care at the University of California, Davis. She comes to her new role from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she served as a clinical associate professor of anesthesiology and director of the shelter medicine program.

Dr. McCobb completed her undergraduate education at Claremont McKenna College in California. She holds a master’s degree and doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Tufts University.

Aimee Crawford has been named the Robert C. Vance Endowed Chair in Journalism and Mass Communication at Central Connecticut State University. She has over 30 years of experience in sports journalism, including positions with Sports Illustrated, Major League Baseball, and ESPN. As an academic, she previously taught sports journalism and feature writing at Springfield College in Massachusetts.

Crawford is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where she double-majored in journalism and French. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Chantal de Jonge Oudraat has been named the John O. Rankin Professor of International Affairs at George Washington University. She will also serve as director of the master’s degree program in international affairs. Throughout her career, she has held several senior-ranking positions with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the United States Institute of Peace, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She also had a stint on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. de Jonge Oudraat holds a doctorate from the University of Paris.

Two Women Selected for Key Interim Leadership Roles with the Universities of Wisconsin

Renée Wachter, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, has been selected to serve as interim president of the Universities of Wisconsin. Maria Cuzzo, provost of UW-Superior, will serve as the university's interim chancellor while Dr. Wachter assumes her new responsibilities.
