Lori Barber Appointed the Second President of the College of Eastern Idaho

Lori Barber has been named the second president of the College of Eastern Idaho. She will assume her presidency on August 1.

The College of Eastern Idaho is a community college located in Idaho Falls. The school enrolls over 2,300 students, 60 percent of whom are women.

For the past five years, Dr. Barber has served as the College of Eastern Idaho’s vice president of academic and student affairs. In this role, she led the college through a seven-year accreditation reaffirmation and the establishment of two applied bachelor’s degree programs. Prior to her present position, she served as the college’s dean of general education. She also serves as a member of the Idaho Launch Initiative Policy Committee, an initiative that offers financial support to high school seniors across the state of Idaho.

“I have a clear vision for how we can continue to grow as a cutting-edge institution,” said Dr. Barber. “With our talented faculty and staff, I am ready to lead CEI in its continued success, building on the best that already exists and creating new possibilities of excellence.”

Dr. Barber is a graduate of Idaho State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in letters and history and a master’s degree in history and anthropology. She holds a doctorate in leadership and innovation from Arizona State University.
