A Trio of Women Appointed Dean

Nadine Barnett Cosby has been named dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Her appointment makes her the university’s first-ever Black dean. Currently, Dr. Cosby serves as associate vice provost for academic affairs and associate professor of media and strategic communication at Iona University in New York.

Dr. Cosby completed her undergraduate education at Lehman College in New York. She holds a master’s degree in public relations from Iona University, a second master’s degree in media studies from The New School for Public Engagement in New York, and a Ph.D. in communication studies from Regent University in Virginia.

Korrie Blanchard Smith has been appointed dean of career services at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has been with the college since 2014 serving as associate dean of career services, senior director of career and professional development, and manager of career and alumni services.

Smith is an alumna of Wake Technical Community College where she earned an associate of arts degree. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish from Appalachian State University in North Carolina, and a master’s degree in counseling from North Carolina State University.

Neslihan Alp has been named dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management at the Oregon Institute of Technology. She previously served as vice president for academic affairs and provost at Pennsylvania College of Technology and as dean of the College of Technology at Indiana State University.

Dr. Alp is a graduate of Istanbul Technical University in Turkey where she received a bachelor’s degree in engineering management and a master’s degree in industrial engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in engineering management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Duke University’s Svati H. Shah to Lead the American Heart Association
