Seven Women Who Have Been Assigned to New Administrative Roles at Universities

Roberta Maldonado Franzen has been named the director of talent acquisition and recruitment at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She served in various leadership roles at Kansas State University, including director of people and culture for the university’s libraries. She had been on the staff at Kansas State since 2010.

Dr. Maldonado Franzen has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in human resources administration from Central Michigan University. She earned Ph.D. in leadership communication from Kansas State University.

Sarah Victoria Turner, an art historian and curator who specializes in the cultural relationships between Britain and India, has been appointed director of Yale’s Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, a London-based educational charity and research institute committed to promoting original, world-class research into the history of British art and architecture. Dr. Turner is the institute’s sixth director and the first woman to lead the organization since its founding in 1970.

Dr. Turner studied the history of art at Pembroke College of the University of Cambridge in England. She earned a master’s degree in sculpture studies at the University of Leeds and then completed her Ph.D. at the Courtauld Institute of Art in New York.

Jennifer Caputo has been named promoted to deputy vice president for alumni engagement in the Office of Advancement at Princeton University in New Jersey. She had been serving as assistant vice president for alumni engagement operations at the university. Prior to joining the staff at Princeton University in 2012, she served in several roles at Major League Baseball, including as vice president of human resources for MLB Advanced Media.

Caputo holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and marketing from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame Indiana.

Rhonda Owens was named associate dean of administration and operations for the University of Chicago Library. Owens comes to the University of Chicago from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as assistant dean of strategic operations, overseeing budget management, strategic planning and operations, regulatory compliance, and academic activities.

Dr. Owens holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in inner-city studies education from Northeastern Illinois University. She holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from Argosy University.

Nicolette A. Dobrowolski was promoted to director of the Special Collections Research Center at Syracuse University Libraries. She was serving as interim co-director of the SCRC since November 2021. From 2016 to 2021, she was assistant director of collections and access services at the SCRC.

Dobrowolski received a master’s degree in information studies from the University of Texas at Austin.

Sandra D. Yates is the new associate vice chancellor for development at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. Most recently, she led advancement operations at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Earlier, she held advancement posts at Wesley College, Swarthmore College, Lincoln University, and Talladega College.

Yates holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Delaware State University. She is currently studying for a master of divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Beth Grisoli has been promoted to assistant vice president of strategic communications at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She had been serving as executive director of multimedia services and strategic resources at the university. She has been on the university’s staff for 16 years.

Grisoli holds a bachelor’s degree in American studies and a master’s degree in communication arts from the University of Notre Dame.
