Laurie Joyner Will Be the First Woman President of St. Norbert College in Wisconsin

Laurie M. Joyner has been named the ninth president of St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. When she takes office on July 12, Dr. Joyner will become the first woman to lead the educational institution in its 125-year history.

“I am honored and humbled to have been selected as the ninth president of St. Norbert College,” Dr. Joyner said. “The college’s rich Catholic, Norbertine tradition and deep commitment to the liberal arts is powerful in preparing graduates for lives of meaning, leadership, and service. SNC is a well-respected college based on its reputation of academic excellence, engaged students, an abundance of faculty and staff talent, a strong sense of community, and successful graduates who maintain strong connections with the college.”

St. Norbert College enrolls just over 2,000 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 58 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since 2017, Dr. Joyner has been president of St. Xavier University in Chicago. Prior to St. Xavier, Joyner served as president of Wittenberg University in Ohio and in multiple vice presidential and dean roles at Rollins College in Florida. Earlier, Dr. Joyner served on the faculty and held administrative positions of increasing responsibility at Loyola University in New Orleans.

Dr. Joyner is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from Tulane University in New Orleans.
