Naydeen González-De Jesús Will Be the Thirteenth President of San Antonio College in Texas

The Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees has chosen Naydeen González-De Jesús as the thirteenth president of San Antonio College in Texas. When she takes office on January 9, she will be the first woman in a quarter century and the second woman ever to lead the college since its founding nearly a century ago.

San Antonio College enrolls more than 17,600 students, according to the latest statistics supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 63 percent of the student body.

Dr. González-De Jesús has been serving as the executive vice president of student success at Milwaukee Area Technical College in Wisconsin. Prior to her position at MATC, Dr. Gonzalez-De Jesus served as the public diplomacy officer for the U.S. embassy in Argentina. Earlier, she was vice president of student affairs for Bergen Community College in New Jersey; an associate dean at Rowan College at Burlington County in New Jersey; and as assistant dean of student services and founding member and director of the Center for Student Success at Salem Community College in Carneys Point, New Jersey.

Dr. González-De Jesús holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University. She earned a master’s degree in student personnel services from Rowan University and a doctorate from Northcentral University in industrial/organizational psychology.
